- Boater’s safety license required if born after 12/31/87. A valid boaters safety licenses from another state is reciprocal.
- No towing, no nighttime driving, no smoking or grilling allowed
- Must stay within designated boundaries & out of the Gulf of America
- Must have a designated non-drinking driver

How do I get to Fort McRee on a pontoon rental?
Fort McRee (also spelled Fort McRee) is accessible via pontoon boat from our marina. It’s approximately a 30-35 min. cruise depending on conditions. We’ll provide detailed navigation instructions to Fort McRee Florida, including the best anchoring spots near the historic ruins. You’re shore to love it!
Can I find shark teeth on Pensacola Beach?
Def-fin-itely! The beaches around Pensacola, especially near Fort Pickens and Fort McRee, are excellent for finding shark teeth on the beach. Look for fossilized shark teeth in the sand, particularly after storms or at low tide. Shark teeth beach Florida spots are marked on your rental map—happy hunting!
Will I see starfish during my pontoon rental?
You shore could. Life I better with a little bit of starfish sparkle! Starfish at the beach are commonly spotted in shallow waters around Sand Island, Fort Pickens, and Fort McRee. Look during low tide near grass beds and rocky areas. Remember to observe only—starfish should stay in the water where they belong!
Are there sharks in Pensacola Beach?
While sharks in Pensacola Beach waters exist, they’re typically small species that stay in deeper channels. The calm sound waters where our Frisky Mermaid pontoons operate are very safe. Sharks at Pensacola Beach FL are rarely encountered in the shallow areas where people swim and anchor – nothing to worry about…which is just jaw-some.

Sand Island is approximately 35 minutes by pontoon boat from our Pensacola Beach marina, depending on water conditions and your cruising speed. It’s a quick and easy trip!
Will I see dolphins on my pontoon boat rental?
While we can’t guarantee wildlife sightings (Mother Nature calls the shots!), dolphins are frequently spotted in Santa Rosa Sound, near Fort Pickens and around Sand Island,If you spot dolphins, slow down, maintain distance, and enjoy the fin-tastic show! 🐬 Because they are federally protected, you are not allowed to feed, touch or swim with dolphins.
What time can I rent a Frisky Mermaid pontoon boat in Pensacola Beach?
Pontoon boat rentals are available daily during daylight hours only. Night operations are not permitted for safety and insurance reasons. Book your preferred departure time online—early bird gets the best spot!
Do you provide fishing gear with pontoon rentals?
Here’s the reel deal…fishing gear is not included, but you’re welcome to bring your own rods, tackle, and Florida fishing license. Many guests fish near Sand Island and Fort Pickens—it’s the catch of the day!
Can I hire a captain for my pontoon boat rental?
Yes! If you’d prefer to relax while someone else navigates to Sand Island, Fort McRee, and other destinations, we offer captains for hire. Contact us for availability and pricing—we’re here to help! If a booze cruise or a party barge is more your style, give us a call on the shellphone! Our experienced Captains will drive the pontoon boat, and you and your pod can relax and enjoy the party!
What happens if the weather is bad on my rental day?
We love adventure, but safety always comes first—especially when Mother Nature gets frisky! If weather conditions are unsafe, our Mermaid Crew will contact you to reschedule or provide a full refund. Just go with the flow, weather it like a true Floridian and check back in 5, it will probably change.
Is fuel included in the pontoon boat rental price?
Your pontoon comes with a full tank of gas. Upon return, we refill the tank and charge your card on file based on gallons consumed. One less thing to worry about—so you can fill up on fun!
Where do I pick up my pontoon boat rental in Pensacola Beach?
You will receive a confirmation email with all of the pick up instructions and location. Free public parking is available across the street. You may park one vehicle per group at the Sandbar do NOT park at Shaggy’s—you will be towed! Arrive 45 minutes before your rental time for the safety tutorial. It’s time to celebrate in the sunshine state!

- Captain MUST an be experienced boater, no exceptions. Driving a jet ski, for instance, would not qualify the individual as an experienced boater. Captain must be able to demonstrate parking in and out of marina slip as well as know the rules of the waterway and all USCG guidelines.
