Shared Dolphin Cruise On The Frisky Mermaid
Climb aboard the 52-foot Frisky Mermaid for Pensacola Beach’s most popular dolphin cruise. This is the classic Gulf Coast experience — a fun, relaxed cruise through the Santa Rosa Sound and out toward the Gulf where Pensacola Bay’s resident dolphin pods are spotted on nearly every trip. Our experienced captains know exactly where to find them and will keep you entertained throughout the cruise with commentary on local marine life, Pensacola Beach history, and the waterways that make this stretch of the Gulf Coast one of the most dolphin-rich in the South.

No crowds, no sharing the rail — just your group and the Gulf Coast.

Private and semi-private options are both available depending on your group size and preference.

Sunset Dolphin Cruise

There’s something about watching dolphins in the water as the sun drops below the horizon that makes for a Pensacola Beach evening you won’t forget. Our sunset dolphin cruise runs aboard the Frisky1 or 2Frisky, giving small groups an intimate, unhurried experience on the Santa Rosa Sound and Pensacola Bay as the sky shifts from blue to pink to gold.
Departure times shift throughout the season to line up with the sunset — early evening in summer, afternoon departures in the winter months — so every cruise gets the full show regardless of the time of year. The smaller group size means less noise, more space, and a pace that actually lets you take it all in.
Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to end a Pensacola Beach day the right way, this is the cruise for it. Book early — sunset spots are among the first to fill.

Blue Angels & Dolphin Cruise

Pensacola is home to the Blue Angels — the US Navy’s world-famous flight demonstration squadron based at Naval Air Station Pensacola — and this seasonal cruise lets you watch them practice from the water, one of the best and most unobstructed vantage points you’ll find anywhere along the Gulf Coast. While the jets fly their formations directly overhead, dolphins often cruise alongside the boat in the Santa Rosa Sound below. There are no bleachers, no crowds blocking your view, and no barriers between you and the sky. Just open water, the sound of the engines, and dolphins in the wake.
The cruise runs most Tuesdays and Wednesdays during scheduled Blue Angels practice days, March through October, with a 9:35AM departure. Seats fill up fast on practice mornings — it’s a uniquely Pensacola experience that’s genuinely hard to replicate anywhere else.
Check the practice schedule and book early — this one sells out.
Cruise Details:
- From $55 per person
- March – October
- Practice Schedule Varies
- Departs behind Shaggy’s, 701 Pensacola Beach Blvd

Are dolphin sightings guaranteed?
While we can’t make promises about wild animals, dolphins are spotted on the vast majority of our cruises. Pensacola Beach is home to a large resident population of bottlenose dolphins that are active year-round, and our captains know the waterways and feeding areas of the Santa Rosa Sound and Pensacola Bay where they’re most likely to be found. Sightings are the norm, not the exception — but every trip on the water is a little different, and that’s part of what makes it special.
What should I bring and what should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little wind-blown and bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. The sun on the water is intense, especially mid-day. Soft-soled shoes are recommended — no heels on the boat. For evening cruises, bring a light layer as it can cool down once you’re out on the water.
What is your cancellation and weather policy?
We monitor conditions closely and will contact you directly if a cruise needs to be rescheduled or cancelled due to weather. If we cancel, you’ll receive a full refund or the option to rebook. If you need to cancel on your end, please refer to the cancellation terms at the time of booking. We recommend keeping an eye on the forecast as your date approaches.
What other sights will we see on our cruise?
Dolphins are the star of the show, but Pensacola’s waterways offer plenty more to take in. Expect to cruise past the iconic Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier, the historic Pensacola Bay Bridge, and the white-sand dunes of Gulf Islands National Seashore — one of the longest stretches of protected coastline in the U.S. Depending on the season, you may spot brown pelicans, osprey, and great blue herons fishing alongside you. On our Blue Angels cruise, the route is timed around NAS Pensacola flight operations so you can watch the jets practice over the water. Every cruise is a little different, and our captains love pointing out what’s out there.
How long does the dolphin cruise last?
The shared dolphin cruise runs approximately 90 minutes. Private charters and sunset cruises are also 90 minutes. We depart from Sabine Marina at 1801 Park Place, Pensacola Beach — plan to arrive 15 minutes early for boarding.
What is the best time of year to see dolphins in Pensacola Beach?
Dolphins are present in Pensacola waters year-round, but activity peaks from spring through early fall (April–October) when warmer water temperatures concentrate fish near the surface. Summer departures tend to see the most active pods, including mothers with calves. Fall cruises offer smaller crowds and equally reliable sightings.
Can I bring young children on the dolphin cruise?
Absolutely — the shared dolphin cruise welcomes all ages, from infants to grandparents. Children under 2 ride free. Life jackets are available in all sizes. For families who want a more relaxed, private experience, our small-group private charter (up to 6 guests) is the most popular option for family outings.
